Giving is an act of worship that supports the local, national and global ministries of First Church. There are five methods by which you can give to First United Methodist Church and directly support God’s work in your life and the life of others:
- Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
EFT serves as a consistent way to allocate funds to First United Methodist Church on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. This option allows you to make your giving a regular priority, even when unable to attend weekly worship. The First UMC EFT provider is integrated with the First UMC database making it the most efficient and cost-effective means of giving to First UMC. If you would like to set up EFT directly from your checking or savings account, CLICK HERE to view and print a copy of the form with instructions. The completed form, with voided check attached, may be returned to the Financial Secretary by means of mail or offering plate.
- Online Gifts
Online giving is a convenient way to give to First United Methodist Church via a credit or debit card. The giver is in control of setting up an account with our online provider, "Ministry One," and manages the account on their own terms. As well as providing a button on this page for easy accessibility, you are encouraged to consider downloading the "easyTithe" app on your phone. By utilizing the app you can give right from the pew with the ease of just a tap on your screen. If you would like to try online giving, and need help setting up an account, email or call the Financial Secretary for assistance.
- Offering Envelopes
Numbered offering envelopes are mailed quarterly to those who have requested them. Envelopes serve as a weekly reminder to make the ministries of First United Methodist Church a priority in your life. Weekly envelopes, as well as special ministry envelopes, are included in the quarterly mailing. If you do not currently receive these envelopes, you may request them by calling the Financial Secretary at 717-781-2555.
- Offering Plate
Loose bills and coins are always a welcome addition to the offering plate. This method of giving, while appreciated, does not yield a giving statement for the giver. If you would like to ensure your giving is credited to a year-end tax statement, please consider using one of the other methods of giving.

- Employer Matching Donations
Many corporations have a matching donation program available to employees. These programs not only create a culture of generosity within a company but also encourage employees to be personally generous. If your employer offers a matching donation program, please consider participating and making First UMC Hanover your matching donation beneficiary.
2. Gifts of Stocks and Bonds
